Therefore, if the article is used for it’s intended purpose of defence against a knife attack it will be lawful to possess,


 However that will change if it is used as a weapon.

In the State of Victoria, the OH&S Knife Safety Pole is legal to own & possess for the purpose of defence from a knife attack. It is not considered "Unreasonable Force" when used for its intended purpose of defence. 


However, if someone was to use it as a weapon to initiate an attack on an unarmed person, they could be charged with an offence.


ONLY use this item for its intended purpose & design. It is designed to help create a safe distance if you are threatened or attacked with a knife or machete.

"A person may use such force not disproportionate to the objective as he believes on reasonable grounds to be necessary to prevent the commission, continuance or completion of an indictable offence or to effect or assist in effecting the lawful arrest of a person committing or suspected of committing any offence.”
